Dermal Fillers are made from a naturally occurring sugar found within the skin called hyaluronic acid. It is injected with a very fine needle into the lips. The results will give you a more contoured and enhanced look for a younger or more aged lip.

How long does the treatment last?

Your practitioner will ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. During the procedure itself clients may experience some mild discomfort however this will be minimised by a topical anaesthetic cream.

Is the treatment painful?

A huge advantage of lip fillers is that the results are long lasting but not permanent. Your lips can be altered over time in order to maintain the desired appearance. On average each treatment can last up to 3 – 6 months.

There are factors that can effect the longevity of your treatment, such as prescription and non prescription medication, excessive exercise and smoking.

Pre Treatment Advice & Aftercare

Pre Treatment Advice

Plan your social occasions around your treatments as redness, swelling and bruising are a possibility post treatment.

Please inform your practitioner of any travel planned in the next 2 weeks.

You cannot have Injectable treatments if you are feeling at all unwell.

If you have had a previous Dermal Filler treatments at another clinic please find out the name of the product that was used. 

Please ensure that you:

  • Have no coldsores ( please inform your practitioner if you are prone to coldsores ).
  • Have had no invasive dental treatment in the previous month or no upcoming treatment in the next month.
  • Have had no recent antibiotic treatment.
  • Are not pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have had no skin treatments in the 2 weeks pre and post appointment.
  • Have had no recent sickness.
  • Have had no recent bacterial infections or antibiotic treatment • Are not pregnant/trying to get pregnant/not breastfeeding
  • Have had no recent invasive skin treatments (in the same treatment area as your proposed dermal filler treatment area) four weeks pre or post treatment.
  • Please inform your practitioner of any medications or dietary supplements you may be taking.
  • Please refrain from taking any medications that contain Ibuprofen or the following medications or supplements for seven days prior to treatment ( unless prescribed by a doctor).
  • St. Johns Wort, Fish oils, Garlic, Gingko Biloba, Vitamins A and E.
After - Care Advice

Most people can expect some redness, needle prick marks, mild swelling and possibly bruising.

Any swelling or bruising can be more noticeable the day after treatment.

  • Make-up must not be worn for 24 hours post treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol and vigorous exercise for 48 hours post treatment.
  • Refrain from placing any pressure on the treatment area for 48 hours.
  • Avoid sunbathing, sunbeds or extremes of heat or cold for 2 weeks post treatment. These activities have been found to increase and prolong bruising and swelling.
  • Swelling may feel harder or lumpy and you may notice some asymmetry post treatment, this should settle 2-4 weeks after your treatment.
  • Arnica cream can help reduce bruising post treatment.
  • Avoid any none emergency dental work for 4 weeks post treatment.
  • Avoid invasive skin treatments for 4 weeks post treatment.

Please contact the clinic immediately if you experience any abnormal, intense pain, mottling (fishnet stocking pattern) or discolouration of the skin in the area or surrounding area of your dermal filler treatment.
